Spotlight on Advanced Topics in Women’s Mental Health 2022
The purpose of this course is to provide clinically meaningful education to multidisciplinary health care providers on topics often encountered in caring for women with psychiatric disorders. This course was designed to promote high-quality clinical care in women with psychiatric disorders across the reproductive lifespan, with comprehensive coverage of frequently encountered topics and discussion of the evidence base to inform clinical decision-making. Perinatal psychiatry topics will include clinical challenges discussed with case-based learning and considerations for women of color. Substance use disorders during pregnancy and postpartum will be additionally addressed. Topics will also include sexual dysfunction and an update on hormone therapy for the menopausal transition. Learning in this course will be facilitated by didactic materials delivered by the faculty from the MGH Center for Women’s Mental Health. The faculty will also provide question and answer and case-based discussion sessions for course participants. Readings to accompany course materials will also be provided.
