He earned his DPM from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1995; completed a three-year surgical residency at Inova Fairfax in Virginia and a one year Diabetic Foot/Limb Salvage Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and is a past president of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He currently serves as co-director of the Center for Wound Healing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, program director for the MedStar Health PMSR/ RRA, and a faculty member for the Georgetown Diabetic Limb Salvage Research Fellowship.
